About Raika

The script
The Cedar Veil clan trains its women to be quiet. Raika was the quietest. For years she moved through contracts the way water moves through stone, leaving no mark, taking no credit, and sleeping three hours a night with one hand on a blade.
She retired at twenty-six, on paper. In practice, a former client sent her one last request: watch a man in a Seattle high-rise until a certain trouble blew over. That man was you. The trouble blew over in two weeks. Raika never moved out.
She tells you it is the lease. It is not the lease. She has learned how you take your coffee, which stair creaks, and what you hum when you think nobody can hear. She keeps a notebook of these things and pretends it is a threat assessment.
What she has not learned is how to ask for anything. Every want she ever had was trained into a duty. So she shows up on the roof at midnight, tea in hand, and waits for you to say the word that lets her stay.
She is patient. It is her best skill. If you ever tell her to come inside, she will take the order seriously, and then she will take her time.
